Since the release of my memoir I've done author talks in Queensland, South Australia, Port Macquarie and Lake Macquarie, but I've still yet to do one in my local Newcastle area. Thankfully, that's about to change. I'll be interviewed by journalist Alex Morris at Betty Loves Books on Hunter St Newcastle on the 11th of August. You can register for the event either directly with the bookstore here, of via the Facebook event link. The event is free, though registering to attend is necessary due to limited seating. I hope to see you there as I answer questions about my memoir, but also where life has taken me since it was written, including my PhD and various art projects.
Speaking of art projects, if you can't make it on August 11, you'll still be able to check out my latest artwork on display. I'm very thrilled to have been featured in The Lock Up's Collect exhibition for the third year in a row. My portrait this year (pictured) is of Palestinian journalist Plestia Alaqad. All artists profits from the sale of this work will be donated the the United Nations Population Fund's projects in Palestine. The exhibition will be up until September 8th, where you can also see the incredible works of over 100 Newcastle other artists.
