Well its been a slow start to blog posts for this year, but that's because I've been incredibly busy behind the scenes. I'm now almost finished the pieces for my next exhibition, Loud Sky, which opens at The Lock Up on March 31, 2023. And I'm very pleased to announce that the following day, I'll be speaking on the panel 'The Power of Art to Heal' at the 2023 Newcastle Writers Festival. It's great to be given the chance to speak at the writers festival again. My last booked appearance in 2020 unfortunately did not go ahead due the pandemic, but I'm sure this years festival will make up for that. You can find details for the event at the link above, and my profile for the festival here.
In unrelated news, I'm also happy to let you know the first issue of Paper Chained for 2023 just dropped yesterday. As always, you can read and download the magazine freely at our website. It's already been posted to all incarcerated people on our mailing list, and also sent to Corrective Services NSW for inclusion on the tablet system in prisons. Hopefully between everything else I'm doing I'll get a chance to work more on my PhD in the coming weeks. While the workload is certainly high, I can at least say that my days are never dull!
