It's been a while since an article I wrote was published in the media. 10 daily, who I'd written several articles for, closed down last May. Instead of finding a new publication to write for, at the time I decided to focus my writing attention on finishing my master's degree and my memoir. Since completing both of those, I've mostly transitioned into working on art projects, running Paper Chained, and creating the upcoming Broken Chains podcast. But sometimes things come full circle.
After being interviewed by Newcastle Weekly regarding my art and podcast, they reached out and asked if I'd like to write an article on how the current lock-down compares to prison (in a nutshell - it doesn't). A bit ironic since the last piece I wrote for 10 daily was on the same subject, but I'd forgotten how much I enjoy writing opinion pieces, and I couldn't be happier with the photo they've run with, which was left over from the last shoot I did with them. The article went live on Saturday; you can check it out here.
